The short answer

What is dedicated internet access?

Dedicated internet access (DIA) is a business internet connection, usually fiber, that is reserved for one customer. You get the bandwidth you pay for at all hours, matching upload and download speeds, static IP addresses and a service level agreement that sets uptime and repair targets. It costs more than shared broadband and usually comes with a multi year term.

Speed
The same up and down, reserved for you
Install time
Weeks if fiber is already in your building, months if it must be built
Contract
Usually 36 months. Longer terms lower the price
Best for
Offices where downtime stops phones, payments or production

What we compare

Two quotes for the same speed can be very different services. We line up the details that matter.

  • On-net and off-net providers

Providers that already have fiber in your building and those that would need to build to it, with the construction cost and timeline for each.

  • Service level agreements

Uptime, repair time, latency and packet loss targets, plus the credits you get when a provider misses them.

  • Static IP addresses

The block size you need for VPNs, servers, cameras and remote access, and what each provider charges for it.

  • Diverse paths and backup

A second connection that enters your building a different way, so one cut cable does not take you offline.

  • Managed routers and security

Provider managed routers, firewalls and DDoS protection, or a clean handoff to the equipment your IT team runs.

  • Term, price and upgrades

Pricing on 12, 24, 36 and 60 month terms, and how easily you can raise your speed during the contract.

How we get you the right connection

  1. Address check. We ask providers which of them can serve your exact building, and whether fiber is already inside (on-net) or would need construction (off-net).
  2. Sizing. We match bandwidth to your people, apps and growth plans.
  3. Quotes in writing. Speed, price by term, install date, construction cost, service level agreement, static IP addresses and router options, side by side.
  4. Order and install. We place the order, keep the provider on schedule and coordinate building access with your landlord and IT team.
  5. After go live. We stay your contact for repairs, credits and upgrades.

Questions to ask before you sign

  • Is fiber already in the building? If not, what is the construction cost and timeline?
  • Where does the fiber enter the building, and does our backup use a different path?
  • What are the uptime and repair targets, and how do we claim a credit?
  • Is the router managed by the provider or by us?
  • How many static IP addresses are included?
  • Can we raise the speed during the contract without restarting the term?
  • What happens if we move?

Order early. If you are moving or opening a location, start the order as soon as you know the address. Fiber that needs construction is the item most likely to delay a move in date.

From options to installed, with one point of contact.

  1. Tell us what matters

Share your locations, budget, current services and what isn't working. The form above or a short call is enough.

  2. Compare side by side

We pull options from providers that actually serve your address and lay them out in plain English: speed, price, term and fine print.

  3. We handle the rest

We coordinate ordering, installation and number transfers, then stay your point of contact after go-live.

What a dedicated fiber comparison looks like Illustrative example. Your options depend on your building.
Option Speed Install Construction Our take
Dedicated fiber, provider A (already in the building) 500 Mbps up and down 30 to 45 days None Fastest to go live
Dedicated fiber, provider B 1 Gbps up and down 90 to 120 days Covered on a 36 month term Best long term value
Business fiber, provider C (shared) 1 Gbps download 2 to 3 weeks None Best as a backup

Dedicated internet questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call or text us.

Is dedicated internet worth the extra cost?

It is when downtime or slow uploads cost you more than the price difference. Cloud phone systems, payment systems, video meetings, large file transfers and hosted apps all depend on steady upload speed and fast repair. If a slow afternoon only means slower web browsing, business broadband with a backup may be enough.

What does the service level agreement actually guarantee?

It guarantees remedies, not perfection. Most agreements set targets for uptime, repair time and network performance, and pay a credit on your bill when the provider misses them. You usually have to request the credit. That is why sites that cannot go down pair dedicated internet with a second connection.

Why does installation take so long?

If the provider already has fiber in your building, install is often a matter of weeks. If it has to build fiber to your building, it needs permits, construction and sometimes access from your landlord, which can take months. We find out which case you are in before you sign, and we order early so the date works for you.

What are construction costs, and who pays them?

When a provider has to extend fiber to your building, it may charge for the work. Many providers reduce or cover that cost on longer terms, or spread it into the monthly price. We get the construction cost in writing in every quote, so there are no surprises.

How much bandwidth do we need?

It depends on how many people work at the site and what they do. Video meetings, cloud phones, backups and large files use the most. We look at your current usage and growth plans and recommend a speed you can raise later, ideally without starting a new contract.

Can we get static IP addresses?

Yes. Dedicated internet usually includes a small block of static IP addresses, and larger blocks are available. Providers often ask you to justify a bigger block, and we help with that request.

Fiber in Kansas City, building by building

Kansas City was the first city to get Google Fiber in 2012, and businesses here often have more than one fiber network to choose from. Availability still changes from one building to the next. In St. Joseph and smaller towns the list is often shorter, which makes a regional network or fixed wireless option worth checking. We confirm what can actually reach your address.
