Two fiber networks and Mediacom
United Fiber, the subsidiary of the United Electric Cooperative, has an office in Cameron and reports fiber at every location in town on the FCC map. Brightspeed, the local phone company, reports fiber at about 92 percent with speeds up to 2 Gbps. Mediacom is the cable company, which sets Cameron apart from St. Joseph (Optimum) and the Kansas City metro (Spectrum and Xfinity).
For most Cameron businesses, the comparison is United Fiber against Brightspeed fiber, with Mediacom or Mercury Fiber fixed wireless as a backup.
Businesses along the highway corridor
Cameron sits where I-35 meets US 36, and businesses that serve travelers and freight along the highways sit alongside downtown shops and offices. Many of them run card payments, dispatch and inventory on the connection all day. A fiber main line with automatic failover to wireless keeps them running when a line is cut.
For sites with several buildings or locations in other towns, SD-WAN ties them together, and dedicated internet adds a service level agreement where downtime is expensive.
Phones and alarm lines
Copper phone lines keep getting more expensive to maintain. We move Cameron businesses to cloud phone systems that keep their 816 numbers, and replace alarm, fax and elevator lines with POTS line replacement.
About the provider data. The network list on this page comes from the FCC’s Broadband Data Collection (availability as of December 2025). The FCC counts a provider as available in an area when it reports it can serve locations there, so a network on the map may still need to build to your building. We check each one at your address before you compare prices.
