Fiber without cable
Gower is one of the few towns in the region with two fiber networks and no cable company. United Fiber, the subsidiary of the United Electric Cooperative based in Savannah, reports fiber at about 92 percent of locations. Brightspeed, the local phone company, reports fiber at about 67 percent with speeds up to 2 Gbps. Spectrum reports a smaller fiber footprint.
Nearby Stewartsville shows a similar pattern: United Fiber reports fiber at every location there, with no cable company on the map. In Plattsburg, United Fiber has announced service is coming.
What we recommend around Gower
- Fiber main line. United Fiber or Brightspeed, compared on price, terms and support.
- Wireless backup. Mercury Broadband fixed wireless or T-Mobile 5G on a separate network. See backup internet.
- Farms and rural sites. If fiber does not reach the property, fixed wireless or Starlink, sometimes both.
- Old phone lines. POTS line replacement keeps alarm and fax numbers working as copper is retired.
Between St. Joseph and Kansas City
Gower sits between St. Joseph and the north side of the Kansas City metro, so many businesses here also have customers, suppliers or a second location in one of them. A cloud phone system can put every location on one system, and we compare internet separately at each address.
About the provider data. The network list on this page comes from the FCC’s Broadband Data Collection (availability as of December 2025). The FCC counts a provider as available in an area when it reports it can serve locations there, so a network on the map may still need to build to your building. We check each one at your address before you compare prices.
